Easy access throughout

From the gently sloping approach to the level access onto the veranda, The Granary has been designed to make moving around straightforward. All internal doors are approximately 860mm wide, the main living areas have smooth oak flooring and the bathrooms and utility room have non-slip Altro flooring. Parking is available immediately beside the property, including a space close to the front door. The spacious main bedroom includes HSL electric profiling beds and at least 1.3 metres of access on both sides of the bed. Its en-suite wet room has a fold-down shower seat, grab rails and a Geberit AquaClean Mera Comfort toilet.

The second bedroom can also be arranged with a super king bed or twin beds and has an en-suite bathroom with a separate walk-in shower. Both bedrooms open directly onto the veranda through sliding glass doors.

Accessible Living

Accessibility at The Granary has been considered as part of the overall design, rather than added as an afterthought. The open-plan living space is bright, generous and easy to move around, with a large dining table that can be extended to accommodate wheelchair users.

The Granary is reached along a tarmac, tree-lined drive. There is parking for two cars directly beside the accommodation, with one space positioned close to the front door.

A gentle slope leads towards the main entrance and there are no entrance steps. Guests are asked to provide an approximate arrival time so Charlie and Julia can be ready to welcome them, explain the property and help with luggage if needed.

The accommodation is available from 4.30pm on the day of arrival, with check-out by 9.30am on departure day.

The accommodation is entirely on one floor and is level throughout. All doors are approximately 860mm wide and most areas are suitable for wheelchair users.

The main living areas have oak floors treated with natural wax oil. Bathrooms and the utility area have non-slip Altro flooring, with additional non-slip mats provided in the bathrooms.

Underfloor heating runs throughout the property and individual areas have separate temperature controls.

The main bedroom can be prepared with either a super king bed or twin beds. It includes HSL electric profiling beds and has a minimum of approximately 1.3 metres of space on both sides of the bed.

Lighting can be controlled from switches beside the entrance and on either side of the bed. There are bedside tables on both sides, including one with a telephone, and a built-in wardrobe containing hangers, bathrobes, slippers, a hairdryer and luggage rack.

Sliding glass doors provide direct access to the level veranda, and there is sufficient space in the bedroom for a cot.

The main en-suite includes a spacious wet-room shower with a fold-down shower seat and grab rails. It also has a Geberit AquaClean Mera Comfort toilet, two basins, a full-size bath with grab rails, a large heated mirror, heated towel rail and shaver point.

The flooring is non-slip and an additional non-slip mat is available.

The second bedroom can also be arranged with a super king bed or twin beds. There is approximately 500mm of access beside the bed, so guests who require more manoeuvring space may find the main bedroom more appropriate.

Its en-suite bathroom includes a full-size bath with grab rails and a separate walk-in shower. A heated mirror, heated towel rail, shaver point and non-slip mat are also provided.

The open-plan kitchen includes a height-adjustable induction hob, a side-opening oven and a built-in microwave that can also serve as a second oven.

There are generous work surfaces, including areas with a non-drip edge, alongside a pull-out storage unit, full-size fridge-freezer, dishwasher and double sink. The combination tap supplies standard water, filtered cold water and boiling water.

A wide selection of utensils, equipment and place settings for up to eight people is provided.

The sitting and dining room measures approximately 7m by 6m, providing generous circulation space. It contains an L-shaped sofa and a dining table that seats up to eight, with pull-out leaves that provide additional space for wheelchair users. Lighting is provided by overhead LEDs and wall lights. The room also has electric Venetian blinds, a Smart TV, DVD player, telephone and Dyson Cool Smart Air Purifier. Large sliding glass doors lead directly onto the veranda without a change in level.
The covered decked veranda is level with the interior of the property and includes outdoor seating. From here, guests can access the enclosed garden, which is predominantly laid to lawn and includes fruit trees and countryside views. There is a large pond within the garden which is not fenced. Children, dogs and anyone who may be at risk near open water must therefore be supervised.
Stayed in The Granary this time with elderly in laws and our dog. Great cottage all on one level with great accessibility features. Fantastic views and well thought out layout. Owners are very friendly and welcoming . Ideally placed for exploring around Exeter or for airport or exhibitions at Westpoint. Highly recommended.
The owners were there to greet us, Julia and Charlie and made us feel at home. Beautiful building in a lovely setting and very nicely fitted out. Very nice welcome pack(thank you) you want for nothing. Good instructions on how to get there, and our Sat/Nav worked well. Not too many narrow lanes. Easy access to the sea and local villages. Two good pubs close by. Very safe for animals. We will return.
The peace and tranquillity of the place, a recommended stress come down for any business person.
What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially for wheelchair users as the cottage is designed to meet all requirements.

As experienced users of holiday cottages, we found the Granary to be one of the best that we have had the pleasure of using. The whole place is beautifully arranged and the welcome pack was the most extensive that we have ever found. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we needed nothing extra in the way off equipment. The garden was well maintained and thoroughly enjoyed by our grandchildren, who visited us during our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. All in all a wonderful restful break.
We had a fantastic time during our weeks holiday. A very warm welcome with freshly baked cakes and bread was just what we needed after a long drive! Fabulous hosts who were not at all intrusive but were on hand if we needed anything. Lovely location with beautiful views across the countryside. We would highly recommend to others as a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a family holiday. Thank you!
Many thanks for another excellent stay, where we felt entirely safe from all covid threats. Many places have some good points which make one think "that's nice" but in The Granary, that applies to everything! There is no doubt we will be coming back.
The Granary is a really wonderful place to stay. It is in a lovely tranquil location with countryside views. The property is very cleverly designed with a feeling of luxury throughout. Would highly recommend!
