Will I have to keep my dog on a lead?
Lead requirements vary between each location or attraction and may change depending on the season, wildlife and livestock. In most locations, dogs are welcome but should be kept under control, with some areas requiring leads at all times. We recommend checking the location or attractions own website before your visit for up-to-date information.
Are there water bowls and dog-friendly facilities available?
Many dog-friendly attractions provide facilities such as water bowls, dog treats, and designated exercise areas, although these can vary by location. Some sites also offer dog washing stations, making it easy to clean up after muddy walks.
Which location is best for dog walking?
Each location offers something different. Haldon Forest Park and Killerton are ideal for longer countryside walks, Stover Country Park provides gentle lakeside trails, while Exeter Quay offers scenic riverside routes. The best choice depends on the length and type of walk you and your dog enjoy.
Are there dog-friendly cafés and restaurants at these locations?
Many of these attractions offer dog-friendly cafés, restaurants, or outdoor seating areas where your four-legged friend can join you. Facilities vary by location, but you’ll find several welcoming places to stop for refreshments during your visit.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available at all of the attractions and locations featured on this page. Larger visitor attractions and country parks typically have dedicated car parks, although charges may apply. During busy periods such as school holidays and weekends, arriving early is recommended.
Are these dog friendly attractions accessible for visitors with mobility needs?
Accessibility varies with some offering level paths, accessible parking, and visitor facilities, while others feature woodland trails or uneven terrain. We recommend checking individual accessibility information before travelling and we are very happy to help with local advice.
The owners were there to greet us, Julia and Charlie and made us feel at home. Beautiful building in a lovely setting and very nicely fitted out. Very nice welcome pack(thank you) you want for nothing. Good instructions on how to get there, and our Sat/Nav worked well. Not too many narrow lanes. Easy access to the sea and local villages. Two good pubs close by. Very safe for animals. We will return.
Many thanks for another excellent stay, where we felt entirely safe from all covid threats. Many places have some good points which make one think "that's nice" but in The Granary, that applies to everything! There is no doubt we will be coming back.
Stayed in The Granary this time with elderly in laws and our dog. Great cottage all on one level with great accessibility features. Fantastic views and well thought out layout. Owners are very friendly and welcoming . Ideally placed for exploring around Exeter or for airport or exhibitions at Westpoint. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially for wheelchair users as the cottage is designed to meet all requirements.
As experienced users of holiday cottages, we found the Granary to be one of the best that we have had the pleasure of using. The whole place is beautifully arranged and the welcome pack was the most extensive that we have ever found. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we needed nothing extra in the way off equipment. The garden was well maintained and thoroughly enjoyed by our grandchildren, who visited us during our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. All in all a wonderful restful break.
The Granary is a really wonderful place to stay. It is in a lovely tranquil location with countryside views. The property is very cleverly designed with a feeling of luxury throughout. Would highly recommend!
We had a fantastic time during our weeks holiday. A very warm welcome with freshly baked cakes and bread was just what we needed after a long drive! Fabulous hosts who were not at all intrusive but were on hand if we needed anything. Lovely location with beautiful views across the countryside. We would highly recommend to others as a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a family holiday. Thank you!
The peace and tranquillity of the place, a recommended stress come down for any business person.
