How long will it take to travel to these places?
All of the towns and beaches suggested above are within 15 miles of The Granary and can be reached by car in around 30 minutes or less, depending on traffic conditions. Journey times by public transport will vary according to route and service schedules.
Are these destinations accessible for visitors with mobility needs?
Accessibility varies by location. Many towns offer accessible parking, level promenades, and step-free access to key attractions, while some beaches and coastal paths may have steep slopes or uneven terrain. We recommend checking individual destination details before travelling to find the most suitable options for your needs. If you would like any further information or recommendations, please ask and we will be happy to help.
Can I reach these towns and beaches by public transport?
Many of these places are served by local bus routes, and several can also be reached via nearby train stations. However, due to The Granary’s rural location, travelling by car is generally the most convenient option. If needed, we would be happy to recommend reliable local taxi services to help you get around.
Is parking available?
Most destinations have public car parks nearby, including disabled spaces, although spaces can fill quickly during peak holiday periods. Arriving early is recommended during the summer months.
Can I visit multiple coastal locations in a day?
Yes. As many of these locations are based along the coast, it’s easy to combine nearby beaches, harbour towns, and coastal walks into a single day out. That said, some destinations are well worth a longer visit, so you may find yourself wanting to stay and explore a little more!
Are these locations suitable to visit all year round?
Yes. While summer is ideal for beach days and water-based activities, the South Devon coastline can be enjoyed throughout the year, with scenic walks, wildlife spotting, and charming coastal towns to explore in every season.
Stayed in The Granary this time with elderly in laws and our dog. Great cottage all on one level with great accessibility features. Fantastic views and well thought out layout. Owners are very friendly and welcoming . Ideally placed for exploring around Exeter or for airport or exhibitions at Westpoint. Highly recommended.

The owners were there to greet us, Julia and Charlie and made us feel at home. Beautiful building in a lovely setting and very nicely fitted out. Very nice welcome pack(thank you) you want for nothing. Good instructions on how to get there, and our Sat/Nav worked well. Not too many narrow lanes. Easy access to the sea and local villages. Two good pubs close by. Very safe for animals. We will return.
We had a fantastic time during our weeks holiday. A very warm welcome with freshly baked cakes and bread was just what we needed after a long drive! Fabulous hosts who were not at all intrusive but were on hand if we needed anything. Lovely location with beautiful views across the countryside. We would highly recommend to others as a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a family holiday. Thank you!
The Granary is a really wonderful place to stay. It is in a lovely tranquil location with countryside views. The property is very cleverly designed with a feeling of luxury throughout. Would highly recommend!
The peace and tranquillity of the place, a recommended stress come down for any business person.
Many thanks for another excellent stay, where we felt entirely safe from all covid threats. Many places have some good points which make one think "that's nice" but in The Granary, that applies to everything! There is no doubt we will be coming back.
As experienced users of holiday cottages, we found the Granary to be one of the best that we have had the pleasure of using. The whole place is beautifully arranged and the welcome pack was the most extensive that we have ever found. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we needed nothing extra in the way off equipment. The garden was well maintained and thoroughly enjoyed by our grandchildren, who visited us during our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. All in all a wonderful restful break.
What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially for wheelchair users as the cottage is designed to meet all requirements.
