Dog-friendly Accommodation

A Devon escape for you and your dog

There’s no need to leave four-legged members of the family behind. The Granary welcomes up to two dogs and offers a peaceful East Devon base with a private enclosed garden, countryside views and plenty of space to relax after a day spent exploring.

The Granary’s spacious open-plan living area gives everyone room to unwind together, while large sliding doors lead directly onto the covered veranda and garden. The accommodation is arranged entirely on one level, making it easy to move between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The private garden is mainly laid to lawn and provides plenty of room to enjoy the fresh air. It is enclosed, although the large pond within it is unfenced, so dogs should always be supervised outside.

Country walks and Devon adventures can occasionally result in muddy paws. A warm-water outdoor shower is available on the veranda, along with a separate dog towel, helping you clean up before heading back inside.

Underfloor heating and generous living spaces make The Granary a comfortable place to return to, whether you have spent the day beside the coast, exploring the countryside or simply enjoying the garden.

Explore Devon Together

From its peaceful East Devon setting, The Granary is well placed for days exploring the surrounding countryside, Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Devon’s coast. At the end of the day, return to the privacy of your own garden and enjoy the rural views together.

Up to two dogs are welcome at The Granary. An additional charge applies for each dog.

The current charge is £30 per dog for each week or part of a week. Please confirm the charge when making your booking in case the booking terms have subsequently changed.

Yes. The Granary has its own private enclosed garden, mainly laid to lawn and reached directly from the covered veranda.

Although the garden is enclosed, no garden can be guaranteed escape-proof for every dog. It also contains a large unfenced pond, so dogs must be supervised at all times.

Yes. A warm-water outdoor shower is available on the veranda, and a separate dog towel is provided for drying muddy paws and coats.

No. Dogs must not be left unattended inside The Granary at any time.

Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms or on the furniture. Additional cleaning charges may apply where these rules have not been followed.

Dogs must be kept on a lead around the wider Larkbeare site, including when first setting out for a walk. Owners must also prevent dogs from chasing wildlife, disturbing livestock or entering fields containing livestock.

The Granary is beside Larkbeare Grange B&B and other neighbouring properties. Guests are therefore asked to keep dogs under control and minimise noise.

Stayed in The Granary this time with elderly in laws and our dog. Great cottage all on one level with great accessibility features. Fantastic views and well thought out layout. Owners are very friendly and welcoming . Ideally placed for exploring around Exeter or for airport or exhibitions at Westpoint. Highly recommended.
Many thanks for another excellent stay, where we felt entirely safe from all covid threats. Many places have some good points which make one think "that's nice" but in The Granary, that applies to everything! There is no doubt we will be coming back.
The owners were there to greet us, Julia and Charlie and made us feel at home. Beautiful building in a lovely setting and very nicely fitted out. Very nice welcome pack(thank you) you want for nothing. Good instructions on how to get there, and our Sat/Nav worked well. Not too many narrow lanes. Easy access to the sea and local villages. Two good pubs close by. Very safe for animals. We will return.

The peace and tranquillity of the place, a recommended stress come down for any business person.
We had a fantastic time during our weeks holiday. A very warm welcome with freshly baked cakes and bread was just what we needed after a long drive! Fabulous hosts who were not at all intrusive but were on hand if we needed anything. Lovely location with beautiful views across the countryside. We would highly recommend to others as a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a family holiday. Thank you!
As experienced users of holiday cottages, we found the Granary to be one of the best that we have had the pleasure of using. The whole place is beautifully arranged and the welcome pack was the most extensive that we have ever found. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we needed nothing extra in the way off equipment. The garden was well maintained and thoroughly enjoyed by our grandchildren, who visited us during our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. All in all a wonderful restful break.
What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially for wheelchair users as the cottage is designed to meet all requirements.
